HISP Vietnam Proud to Support Lao PDR’s Groundbreaking Climate Health Resilience!
Exciting developments in Lao PDR! On the 29th of April 2025, The Ministry of Health (MoH), in partnership with Save the Children International (SCI) Laos and the World Health Organization (WHO), has launched Lao PDR’s first climate-resilient health system initiative, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This vital five-year project aims to benefit over a quarter of the country’s population.
HISP Vietnam is honoured to play a key role in this initiative through our expertise in DHIS2. As specified in Lao's health national adaptation plan, the DHIS2 system will be the core platform for integrating climate data with health outcomes. This will be crucial for implementing advanced early-warning systems to protect communities.
The Strengthening Climate Resilience of the Lao PDR Health System Project will:
- Empower communities and, critically, expand climate-informed early warning and disease response systems leveraging DHIS2.
- Enhance climate resilience across seven provinces.
- Support 100 health facilities and 250 communities.
- Strengthen healthcare workers' capacity.
- Improve climate-resilient infrastructure.
- Raise public awareness on climate and health.
- Improve healthcare access for over 1.8 million people.
